A 28-year-old Ridgeland man charged with felony DUI following a head-on collision in January that killed a Bluffton college student has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Thomas Heyward’s clay target teams had a strong showing at Hermitage Farms in Camden this weekend with three first-place finishes, a second-place finish and a winner for Highest Overall Average in a division.

A multi-agency investigation into the distribution of cocaine, crack cocaine and opiates ended Nov. 15 in the arrest of 13 suspects — five from Jasper County — on charges of alleged conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 5 kilograms of cocaine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
