Sheriff’s office confiscates 12.5 pounds of marijuana
Tips from the public helped the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office seize a box that contained 12.5 pounds of marijuana.
Sheriff Chris Malphrus said on May 25, the JCSO learned about a shipment of narcotics being delivered from California by mail to a residence in the Point South/Coosawhatchie area.
Malphrus said an investigation and assistance from the community helped the JCSO intercept the package before it reached the residence.
“This is a large quantity of drugs that will never have the chance to get in the hands of our kids and hurt our young people,” Malphrus said. “Thank you citizens of Jasper County. Let’s continue to work together to make Jasper County a safer place to live.”
The investigation is still ongoing. Malphrus said there are persons of interest.
