Police: Ridgeland man charged after jumping off Hilton Head bridge
A Ridgeland man was arrested after cops say he jumped off the eastbound Hilton Head Island Bridge into the Intracoastal Waterway on Wednesday.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said Kenneth Nusser, 47, jumped around 12 p.m. and swam to C.C. Haigh Landing.
A passing motorist called 911. When deputies responded they said Nusser was walking out of the woods.
Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office said there was no indication that Nusser was trying to harm himself .
Nusser was treated by Beaufort County EMS for minor injuries. He was released into custody and arrested and charged with violating Beaufort County’s “jumping or diving from bridges and piers” ordinance.
Nusser is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
