THA update: Baseball team wins 22-0; Softball falls 6-1

Led by Devin Scott's two hits and three RBI and Spencer Hexamer's three RBI, Thomas Heyward's baseball team beat host Bethesda Academy, 22-0 Thursday.

The Rebels scored 17 runs in the first inning.

THA (5-1) had 14 players score runs, including Bret Mixson, Timber Hexamer and Chipper Hammond, who each scored three runs. Also scoring were: Louie Smith, Justin Davis, Andrew Boyles, Paul Murdaugh, Dalton Steedley, Evan Brazil, Bryce Tillotson, Zach Bond, Blake Bannon, Scott and Spencer Hexamer.

THA was 11 for 11 in steals. Boyles had two steals.

Rebels fall at home

Thomas Heyward's softball team lost 6-1 to May River in the Rebels' home opener.

May River took the lead in the third on Taylor Gleason's two-run HR. The Rebels (6-4) scored on Alayna DeLong's single.

The Rebels made three errors.

Hannah Cannon was 2 for 3. Cheyenne Strong took the loss. She struck out 10, walked four and allowed two earned runs.
