Jags race to state track meet

Ridgeland-Hardeeville’s girls are sprinting to Saturday’s Class AAA state track championships.

At last weekend’s Lower State meet, Lenasia Singletary and Kera Robinson each earned spots in the state final by finishing second and third, respectively, in the 100-meter dash.

Singletary’s time was 12.44, behind winner Anastasia Kinlaw of Timberland (12.33). Robinson ran a 12.53.

Singletary also qualified for the state final by placing second in the 200 dash (25.43), behind Kinlaw.

The girls 4x100-meter relay team of Singletary, Robinson, Latrina Fadden and Zaria Wilson also qualified by placing third (51.30).

The boys 4x100-meter relay team placed 12th (46.95) and did not qualify for the final.

The state final is in Columbia.

Thomas Heyward out of playoffs

Thomas Heyward’s baseball team was swept by Robert E. Lee last week in a SCISA Class AA state first-round playoff series. The Rebels (11-10) lost 11-0 in Game 1 and 10-1 in Game 2.

Charter school reaches 2nd round in soccer playoffs

Royal Live Oaks Academy’s boys soccer team beat Cross 5-1 on May 2 in a SCHSL Class A first-round Lower State playoff game. The Knights, a No. 4 seed, lost 7-0 to top seed Palmetto Scholars in Thursday’s Lower State semifinal.
