Friday night football: John Paul II 40, Palmetto Christian 18

Led by Zach Doe's 153 yards rushing and four touchdowns and 100 rushing yards from Melik Frost, John Paul II beat host Palmetto Christian Academy 40-18 Friday night.

The Golden Warriors are 2-1 and 1-0 in SCISA Region 2-A.

Frost had 10 tackles. Mark Tigges had three sacks.

Doe's 50-yard TD run in the first quarter gave JPII a 6-0 lead. Travis Taylor scored a 36-yard touchdown on a double reverse for a 12-0 lead. Doe's 5-yard TD run gave the Golden Warriors a 19-0 lead.

Doe ran 35 yards for a 27-0 lead. Frost later ran for a 27-yard TD and a 34-12 lead. The Golden Warriors had 301 total rushing yards.

John Paul II hosts Hilton Head Prep next Friday at the Richard Gray Complex in Hardeeville.
